Teeth Cleaning

By: Sheila Meinkins

teeth cleaningSince we all encourage a society of beauty, we must strive for that more radiant skin and shinier hair. We struggle with our weight in order to conform to a "slim means beautiful" society. Teeth cleaning holds no second place in the tedious regime of grooming rituals. If there's one thing we all want, it's clean, white teeth. This is certainly a goal of Americans more than anyone. When it comes to teeth cleaning, we have thousands of weapons to aid us in the battle for pearly whites.

I have to admit, when it comes to teeth cleaning, I'm a fanatic. I never want cavities. The dentist is someone I dread seeing. That awful bone grinding drill, and that horrible pokey thing he jabs into your gums. It's a nightmare. I make it a routine to brush thoroughly at least twice a day, and floss at night. Oh, and don't forget the fluoride rinse. Well, I said I was a stickler for clean teeth. While avoiding the wrath of the dentist can be difficult, it doesn't have to be an up-hill battle anymore. There are infinite teeth cleaning tools at our disposal. From whitening toothpastes galore, to electric toothbrushes that clean like no other, we shouldn't have too much trouble taking care of our precious choppers.

If you look up "teeth cleaning" online, you will be dumbfounded at the websites available to you. Whether you need information on proper tooth care, or are simply looking for a good whitening system, you will find it on the Internet. Since white teeth became all the rage in the 90's, everyone seems to be vying for that brighter shade. Our media has deemed you unacceptable if you lack the necessary luster.

If you check out other countries, you will soon notice that they don't put near the focus on white teeth as we do. In fact, we often poke fun at them in our television programs and films. We Americans assume everyone wants perfectly straight, white teeth. I recall my trip to Taiwan, and my impression of their teeth cleaning habits. For some reason they didn't seem to mind crooked teeth, or tar stains. This baffled me, coming from America, where image is everything, and being without white teeth is as bad as being without a tan.

The Austin Powers series of movies made light of the fact that 60's era British stars didn't all necessarily have the whitest teeth. This was a hilarious yet sometimes gross portrayal of poor teeth cleaning habits.

Although our society makes such an issue of beauty, teeth cleaning is necessary regardless of media inserted trends. We only get one permanent set of choppers, so we certainly need to preserve and take care of them. Teeth cleaning should be a part of your daily regime. Since you eat everyday, you should definitely take the time to brush well. You may find that having healthy teeth and gums is actually just as good as having white teeth. Whiter and brighter is the way to go.
