Playoff Tickets

By: Kilty Larkin

As a sports fan, there's nothing more exciting than watching your team make it to the postseason. That means you have the opportunity of possibly witnessing a championship game in person -- provided that you are lucky enough to get playoff tickets. Once a team has clinched a postseason berth, playoff tickets generally go on sale through the team's box office within a couple of days. You can order over the phone or online, and are usually limited to four tickets per person. That's assuming that you even get through. Many diehard fans never get to attend a postseason game because it's nearly impossible to dial up the hotline without getting a busy signal or to log onto the designated website without getting a "too many connections" error. If you truly want to see the playoffs, your best bet is to use a ticket broker.

A lot of people tend to steer clear of ticket brokers, mostly due to misconceptions about pricing. You can't tune into a huge sports event like the Super Bowl without hearing about the thousands of dollars people paid for good seats. But those cases are an exception to the rule. While it's certainly true that you can expect to pay premium prices for playoff tickets from a broker, the services charges are not so astronomical that you would have to take out a second mortgage on your house to be able to afford them. The fact of the matter is that regular people like you and me attend postseason games all the time. They wouldn't be able to do that if every single seat carried an outrageous price tag.

There are several advantages to dealing with a licensed broker. First of all, you can purchase playoff tickets from the comfort of your own home instead of having to go to the stadium several hours before the big game in order to deal with unsavory characters standing in dark alleys. Second, you can rest assured that you are purchasing legitimate playoff tickets. There's nothing worse than handing your money over to a scalper on the street only to be turned away at the gate because the guy gave you fakes. And third, with the proliferation of online ticket brokers, you have more control over who you deal with than ever before. You have the freedom to shop around for the best seats and prices. In addition, you can check out a number of different brokers with ease, so if one place is sold out, you'll still have a chance to score playoff tickets from another place.

Cheering your favorite team on to the title is something that you might get to do only once in a lifetime. Just ask Red Sox fans! So don't pass up your next chance to attend a postseason game: purchase playoff tickets from a licensed broker and experience all the thrilling action in person.
